Men's Wedding Bands: Width, Metal, Finish and Fit

A men's band is worn every day for decades, which makes comfort and durability the two priorities.
Width
- 4mm — slim; suits smaller hands and a modern look
- 6mm — the most common and the safest all-rounder
- 8mm — substantial; suits larger hands and a traditional look
Profile
Flat (or 'pipe') bands look modern and sit flush against other rings. Domed bands are classic and comfortable. Comfort-fit interiors — slightly curved inside — matter most above 6mm width.
Metal
- 14K gold — best balance of durability and colour retention
- Platinum — heaviest and most durable; scratches but does not wear away
- Titanium — light, tough and affordable, but cannot be resized
- Tungsten — near-indestructible, also not resizable
- 925 silver — a cost-effective choice that will show wear sooner
Finish
Polished is classic but shows scratches. Brushed or satin hides wear better and looks more contemporary. Hammered is the most forgiving of all.
Sizing
Knuckles matter more than finger base for men. Measure at the end of the day, and choose a resizable metal if your weight or activity level may change.
